Alternative Medicine
Alternative medicine has been used by people in other
cultures for many years. Some treatments are very
effective for some people. Others may only work because
the patient believes they will work, much like the way
placebos sometimes work in medical experiments. However,
we believe that the more you know about the options, the more
you will be able to make intelligent, informed decisions about
the medical treatment, which may be right for you and your
particular medical conditions.

The “American Way” to Good Health
Are you feeling depressed?
Don’t have some friends over to play cards, volunteer for a
worthwhile organization, join a choir or start getting more
sleep at night.
Take a pill.
Is your weight out of control?
Don’t cut out junk food, exercise more or drink more water.
Take a pill.
Are you having trouble sleeping through
the night?
Don’t increase your exercise, change your diet, regulate your
schedule, get a massage, reduce your stress or try Yoga.
Take a pill.
Is you sex life not what it used to be?
Don’t explore relaxation techniques or change your
sleeping or eating habits.
Take a pill.

Don’t look into herbal cures or acupuncture for a
solution to the problem.

Are your children having trouble
concentrating at school?
Don’t patiently work with them to help them with their self
control, hug them more or feed them healthy food.
Give your child a pill.
Do your children misbehave?
Don’t teach them proper behavior through your good example,
encourage them, or spend more time reading to them and playing
games with them.
Give your child a pill.
Is your hair falling out too fast?
Don’t drink more water, improve your sleeping habits or
consider removing the poisons in your body.
Take a pill.
Do you get migraine headaches?
Don’t visit an acupuncturist to work on blockages in your
system that may be preventing your body from curing your
headaches or talk to a nutritionist to see if your diet could
be causing them or work on reducing the stress in your life.
Take a pill.
Is your skin showing wrinkles as you grow
older?
Don’t drink more water, improve your diet, get more sleep or
consider growing old gracefully.
Take a pill.
Worried about Cancer?
Don’t stop smoking, cut out preservatives in your diet,
increase your water intake, eat more fresh fruits and
vegetables, exercise more, stay away from radiation or look
for alternative treatments.
Take a pill.
Having some negative reactions to some of
your medication?
Don’t stop taking the medication, seek alternative medical
treatments or change your diet.
Just take another pill!
Do you have high blood pressure, are you
constipated, do you suffer from skin problems or do you have
other physical or mental ailments?
Don’t attribute any of these problems to your mental
state, your eating or sleeping habits, your level of exercise,
your level of stress or your physical environment.
Just blame your problems on a
chemical imbalance and take a pill.
SUMMARY:
No matter what your condition, disease, ailment or symptoms
are, do not try to discover the root cause of your medical or
emotional problem. Do not seek a second opinion or make an
appointment with a chiropractor, an acupuncturist, a
nutritionist, a massage or aroma therapist, a Yoga instructor,
or others who practice treatments used by other cultures for
thousands of years.
Just follow the “American Way” to medical
treatment: Take a pill,
have surgery, or simply ignore the problem. Or...
if you have some doubts about whether that system benefits you
or whether the benefits only go to the doctors and the drug
industry, you may want to at least explore some alternatives.
